This weeks item of the week is a series of badges produced around the time of the 1984/85 Miners Strike.
Many of the badges here at SWMM are simple pieces composed only of names of colleries and small symbols. These badges are entirely different, with their eye catching design and catchy slogans they are designed to send a message to whoever might see them. They neatly summed up their owners political views and were presumably worn with great pride.
A particular favourite of mine is the 'Thatcher Busters' badge, a riff on the 1980s film 'Ghostbusters' film.
